Admin Tools Wiki:Requests for rights
From Admin Tools Wiki, the wiki that anyone can edit and test the tools at
- Note: If you are here to request de-sysopship for a user, then please do so by asking at the Admin Tools Wiki:Noticeboard, as this page is only used for granting administrator permissions. Also, click here to purge this page.
Welcome to Admin Tools Wiki's requests for rights page. This is where users request for administrator rights and permissions. Generally, users who are administrators on other wikis or reasonably established users who have a good amount of trust who would like to test the administrative tools here can become administrators depending on the discretion of the judging bureaucrat.
To request for adminship, please follow the following steps below:
- Create a subpage using the input box below, replacing "USERNAME" with your own username, and if you have had a previous request, don't edit it or use it. Instead, create a new one with the box below with a number after your username (usually, 2 if it is your second review, 3 if it is the third, etc), for instance: Admin Tools Wiki:Requests for rights/USERNAME/2. After that (and reading up to step 6), click "Request for rights". NOTE: Please make sure there is no space after your username, as this makes it hard for bureaucrats to reach your request.
- Do not save the new page yet! Replace "STATEMENT" in the edit box at the bottom of the page with a brief message about yourself on other wikis and why you want to become an administrator here. You must also confirm that you are you. To do this, edit your user page on another wiki you are active at saying, "I am USERNAME on Admin Tools Wiki," replacing "USERNAME" with your username you are using here. After saving, add the diff to your statement.
- Save the page.
- Add
{{Admin Tools Wiki:Requests for rights/USERNAME}}(replacing "USERNAME" with your own username) to the "Current requests" list. - Your request will then be reviewed by one or more bureaucrats. Bureaucrats may have questions, so please come by and check on your request to see what is happening to it often. Once they have approved/declined your request, they will move it to the "Approved" or "Declined" section on this page depending on how the request was taken care of, and then it will be eventually archived here. You will then be messaged on your talk page telling you whether your request was approved or declined. If you have any questions about the result of your request, ask the bureaucrat who took care of your request.
- If your request was approved, you are free to test the admin tools around the wiki, assuming you have read and have agreed to follow the testing policy. If your request was declined, you are free to request again when the concerns that were in your request have been taken care of. If you have questions, please leave them at the Noticeboard or ask an active bureaucrat.

Thomas558 (talk · contribs · deleted · logs · block log · lu) (assign permissions) I knew about Wikipedia for a while, though I haven't had an interest in editing that site. However, I recently found out people can create Wikis. I'm interested in doing this and therefore I would like to test administrator tools to see what creating a Wiki would be like and whether or not I want to create a Wiki to begin with. Thanks! To create a wiki, no special "wiki-education" is required — just follow the link and build it up. Qweedsa (talk) 10:27, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure I want to create a Wiki though. Having said that, I'd just like to test out admin tools to get an idea of whether or not I want to create a Wiki. - Thomas558 9:41, September 28, 2009 AM (EST)
I don't mean to come off as rude or impatient, but I've been waiting for a long time for someone to review my request. So can someone please take a look this request. Thanks! -Thomas558 2:12 October 7, 2009 PM (EST)
The problem is that at the moment we give out sysop rights only to trusted users of other wikis, those who have a certain number of edits and who have showed their being reasonable enough for some time. This does not mean that you are a troll, vandal or some other kind of a 'bad guy'. I suggest you practice wiki-editing without admin privileges, so that you can conclude whether such pastime suits you or not. Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the late response. Regards, Qweedsa (talk) 18:18, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
Thomas, I'll have to second what Qweedsa said. However, with community consensus, if you're willing I could add rollback to your account so you can show us you can be trusted with the other admin tools. Cheers! Burner0718 Jibba Jabba! 03:31, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Closing notes and conclusions
- Closed, Thomas558 will be given rollback rights until the community see they know how to edit wiki's (Bureaucrats, I closed this because they will be given rollback before they become sysopped.) Rswfan (talk) 14:47, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
